BS Example: Your Mindset Determines Your Life

BS Example: "Looking at things negatively makes it nearly impossible to get motivated. On the other hand, a positive outlook can be invigorating and serve as a source of inspiration."

What?! Nope. I can name off the top of my head, some of the best athletes of all time who LOVED to use negative motivation to spur them further along (Michael Jordan comes to mind the easiest). Beyond that, a negative mindset can help spur you to action. Of course, you don't want to stay there, but you saying, "Looking at something Negatively makes it impossible to get motivated" is complete non-sense. If that was the case, every divorce must have been super happy, as they chose to "positively" change the dynamic of their relationship.

Hint, that was sarcasm. Relationships can end for a number of reasons, but some definitely end - aka, action was taken, because negative feelings were the spark that caused the motivation to change their life.

And a positive mindset can be invigorating...if you like being a positive person. In fact, there are definite benefits to being a positive person, like making it easier to get started and building connections with others. But there are benefits of not being positive. Here, you can see more realistically, what needs to happen. You can plan for contingencies and be prepared for when things don't go well. Obviously, overly obsessing on the negative isn't great, but "not being positive" can help you to set healthy boundaries and prepare for when and if something goes astray. And lastly, if you're a curmudgeon, that can be beneficial...if you like being left alone. Just sayin'
