The stories you tell yourself about the world are the most powerful predictor of how you will act. Often, we learned these stories, when our life was not in our control. When we're children and young, our stories dictate our life, and our lives are dictated by our parents/ caregivers. What we do is rarely under our direct control when we're young, but that's when we develop the stories that run in the background for the rest of our lives. Most change and coaching programs then teach you how to "Get Control." This is definitely better, but it's so limited to what's possible.
What's possible is the ability to be Free from the Stories that have been holding you back, so you can trust yourself, without the constant need to "control," without the need to constantly monitor whether or not you're doing it right. When's the last time you've trusted yourself to act the way you want, in the moment, without feeling like you have to "force yourself," to do so?
